Sandland is my late
mother's maiden name, Nielsen my late father's. My mother came
from Selly Oak in Birmingham. When my son was in Norway
recently, he noticed quite a few Sandland entries in the 'phone
book. Your statistics show that Norway has the greatest density
of Sandlands. The trace back to Scotland would suggest that
Sandland has its origins in Norway since that was the principal
direction of migration (ie Norway-Scotland). There was no
significant migration in the other direction. Prima facie, it
looks like Sandland is probably a Norwegian name. It would be
interesting to DNA test them all and compare them with the
results taken for the TV programme, Blood of the Vikings!
As a postscript to
my previous message, I can report that there are only two
Sandland entries in the Worcester 'phone book, where I live. If
they were once here, they nearly all seem to have left. |

(Drew) Sandland. My Grandfather is James Odean Sandland.
My Grandmother was Bernice Louise Sandland. I have lived in
