Hi.  Just logged on to your website.  Born in Ellesmere Port in 1948. Parents Eric and Edith Sandland.  Family listed on cenotaph in Nantwich, world war I. Eric is one of 12 children, Fred, Bill, Jack, Eric, Len, Joan, Nance, Madge, Dick, the others I can't remember. All born in Ellesmere Port. Eric and Edith have 3 children, Peter (myself) Marjorie (Gynane) and Linda (Sensicle).  The Sandland gene must be very strong because we all have similar features.  I have two sons who are definitely Sandlands!

My Mom was a Sandland from Aston/Lozells in Birmingham.  She was Jessie and had an older sister Doris.  Their Dad was Frederick Sandland who was born c 1881 off Victoria Road, Aston, Birmingham.  He had an unmarried sister Amy, and a brother Ernie who died in the first world war as a stretcher bearer.  It really is amazing how many Sandlands there are all over the world.  Guess we must all be related somehow!

Our name was Sandland in 1666 in the State of Virginia United States. Edward Sandland was the master of the ship Tangereen and hauled tobacco to Tangiers Africa and other places. He probably was at least 35 years old in 1666...meaning he was born perhaps 1631..place of birth is unknown. We believe Nicholas Sandland born about 1665 was his son and Nicholas lived in York Co ,Virginia in 1689 and Nicholas had a son John born about 1700. they all spelled their name Sandland  and their children till about 1780 and for some reason changed it to Sandlin. I have documents to support what I have stated. I need a little help in finding where the original Edward Sandland came from. Mel Sandlin 1300 Gammon Town Road Bumpass, Va 23024

I always thought the surname of Sandland was quite rare, so imagine my surprise when I came across your page. I have now been inspired to research my family history. My father Donald Sandland was born in Skipton Yorkshire, but now lives in Tamworth Staffordshire. Close it seems to the Sandland centre of the world. Keep up the good work.

Hi- I married Richard Mark Sandland ( born Nantwich 1965, brother to Deborah Louise, son of Colin and Barbara Sandland, grandson of Alfred Sandland) in 1989.  We have a 2 year old son Matthew Alexander Sandland ( 8/10/98).  Having adopted what appears to be an unusual surname 12 years ago it's good to hear about other Sandlands!

I have recently become interested in my family name and have little information. My father, Cyril James Sandland, died 1985 Lichfield Staffs, came from Birmingham. His father was Jack/John and mother known as Doll (Dorothy). I believe they were never married. Any more information, please contact me by email.

Hi, I just found this website and figured I'd post a message, even if it's most likely that our last names are a coincidence. I live in Norway, but don't have much info on the Sandlands back in time. There is a small place up north in Norway which is named Sandland, on a small island called Loppa in Finnmark - the northernmost county of Norway. My great grandfather was from Telemark county in the south-east of Norway. Several of my uncles and aunts emigrated to Australia in the late 60's and still live there. Web: http://www.sandland.ws

Hi, I am married to Keith Sandland who is the son of Frank Sandland (born in Stepney, London) and Ivy Porter (born in Raunds, Northamptonshire).  We have recently moved to Devon from Dunstable in Bedfordshire.  This page tells me that there used to be a mayor of Dunstable called Thomas Sandland. My son, who was born in Dunstable in 1987, is called Thomas (the other is William which is another popular Sandland name). I have only just started researching the family - any information will be gratefully received by email. Thanks

I am the grandson of Clement SANDLAND (born 21 Sept 1864 in Eleanor Road, Hackney, London, UK - per IGI). He married my grandmother, Eva Louisa GRAY (b 24 Nov 1880 in Tanunda, South Australia) on 01 Sept 1910 at Prospect, South Australia. It is possible he married Nellie TRUSTLER in Broken Hill, New South Wales on 30 Dec 1891 using the name John C SANDLAND. Clement is the son of Stephen SANDLAND and Jane Sara ARROWSMITH. When Clement came to Australia, he was a cab proprietor in Broken Hill, New South Wales. In researching Clement, we cannot find any details of his arrival in Australia (ie ship) or any details of relatives in the UK. Any help would be appreciated.
