5 yrs Army Cadet Force
- Lancashire Fusiliers !945/50 (attached 2 Bat Bury until the
battalion disbanded then final weeks in Royal Artillery). 2 yrs
National service REME 1951-1953. Joined at Honiton - Trade test
Blandford - Trade Training Norton Manor Camp Taunton - Stationed
St Neots (camp name not known) (worked on an airfield servicing
stored Bren Carriers, possibly Little Staughton. - Stationed
ROYSTON worked at tank depot in Cambridge location not known) -
special trial Diesel Ignition course at Arbourfield - Flew to
Cyprus in Vickers Viking from Blackbush, meant to be based at
Larnica. (three weeks in Nicosia playing football with, and
standing guard for, the MP's at headquarters and main post office.
After usual army cock up in orders, was flown to Egypt - Following
year based at 47 Workshop, 2 Base Workshops Tel-El-Kebir (Hut74
)- travelled home on Empire Fowey Jan 1953, - demobbed Burscough
Feb 1953. Final Trade VM I Final rank in Egypt L/Cpl acting Cpl.
3 yr's REME AER. NCO IC LAD attached to unknown RAOC Unit in and
around Thetford and southern counties. At present: (73 retired)
Spend my time trying, so far in vain, to locate any old army
friends who may be still alive and who might possibly remember me.
Also endeavouring to trace family tree members and running a
family web site occleston.com, (taking the mick out of the younger
family members and airing my moans) Pretty sad but it keeps my
brain active. If you check it out remember it's just for fun.

Lytham. Then 2 TTG Arborfield for Tech Tbg. 15 Command WKSP,
Crawley, Sussex ('45), 12 Heavy WKSP (HANOMAG), Hanover BAOR
'46. 4th Engrs Eqpt Wksp, Langenhagen (Doug Speller,
"Mad" Madden, John Lucie, Danny Dangerfield etc.). HQ
Central Inspectorate REME 'C' Veh Team (Paddy Black, Chalky
White, Jack Saunders etc.). Back to UK in '51 to join Art Course
64 with Bob Millgate, Lofty Baber, Slim Barber, Dave ?,
'Colonel' Harper, Chota Robertson, JohnChilds). Out to Egypt, 2
Base Wksp, Tel el Kebir (Soapy Hudson, Geordie Large, John
Dungie et al). In 1955 back to BAOR, 118 Coy RASC(GT) LAD
Herford and after the SUEZ Crisis, the unit moved to Bielefeld.
In '59 posted to 3 Force Wksp NAEME RWAFF in Kaduna Nigeria 'til
Independence. 1960 to DDME Inspectorate (Engrs Eqpt & 'C'))
42 Command Wksp, Liverpool. 1064 to 25 Corps Engr Regt LAD, ! Osnabruck BAOR, and finally in 1967 to Kowloon (HK) to
join 50 Command Wksp REME, Sham Shui Po. was Sailing
Secretary at Gordon Hard Boat Club, 48th Ghurka Inf Bde NT.
Many more names and lots of stories and photo's of those 25
wonderful years. I really hope that some of the old pals
are still around (and using a PC). My Wife Kathy and I wish all
