From: Jane Malin Subject: REME
Message: My Great Uncle Fred Picken who is now over 80 served with REME during WWII. He is interested to hear from anyone who was upon a ship that was torpedoed in the Med. The ship was called 'Windsor Castle' (this was not widely known) its number was HMTP41. It set sail from Gourrock in Glasgow on 16th March 1943, it was torpedoed on Sunday 21st March and sank on 23rd March. Fred would be grateful to hear from  anyone that has further information on this ship along with any other surviving members. I understand there were a number of other regiments on this ship as well as the REME.

From: Michael Grube Subject: Munsterlager photos?
Message: Hi everybody!

I am researching the history of the Dennis Barracks in Munsterlager, which previously were called "Kaserne Munster-Nord" and belonged to the "Heeresversuchsanstalt Raubkammer" where the Nazis tested chemical weapons. Today, the Dennis Barracks are a civilian area where people live and work. I am searching for photos of the Dennis Barracks and surrounding areas from the time frame between 1945 and 1994. I'm especially after photos of buildings and installation and the ranges. If you got such photographs, please answer by email. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

From: Sandie Bell Subject: REME - Help/Information
Message: I don't know if this is right place to ask this, but can anyone tell me if there is any way I can find out if my father was in REME during WW2.  I only have hearsay to go by.  I have a photo of him which shows his cap badge but it is a bit fuzzy and I haven't had any luck matching it to any regiment, let alone REME. He never spoke about the war and he died in 1969 when I was 16 so I never got a chance to speak to him about things I would now like to know. I would really like to find out what regiment or whatever he was in and where he was during the war.  Sorry if this is a bit long.  I really would appreciate any help that anyone can offer.

From: Angela Subject: Wartime Memories Project
Message: 1 Sep 2001 - The Wartime Memories Project website has now been running for one year. I would like to thank all those people who have added their recollections and photographs to
make this site so successful. Also a huge thank you those of you how participate in the  active forum that is our message board and to those who have helped others by answering  queries from the "Can you Answer" section. Over the first year this  website, thanks to its visitors has made several people very happy,  old friends have been put back in touch, others have  been contacted by relatives of their wartime comrades or  renewed lost contact with evacuees they took care of during the war. The project is rapidly growing into a community in its own right
I hope the next year will be as successful. If you have not yet added your  recollections please consider doing so, many of those who have, have  found it a rewarding experience
